XP Slowness

Hey, got a pc here with win xp. In both accounts in safe mode, did a check for virii, from trendmicro, and panda. removed detected virii. did a spyware check using hijackthis, spybot, adaware se personal, spy sweeper, and cw shredder. Removed all detected spy/ad/mlwr, from pc. Now the pc still lags like crazy. Are there any other suggestions?

Start, run, type msconfig, diable all startup items except av, reboot..

Hmm how difficult would it be to back up data on ur HD and do a format and re-install windows? That should definetly solve the problem.

ya, I've decided to go that route. I was just wondering if there is something else I can try then what I've all ready done.

You've probably already done this, but:

Did you defrag the HDD?
