I am putting my computer together:
Intel D915PBL, 800 FSB, PCI 16X, Matrix Storage Technology
3.0 Ghz 530J
6600 GT Chaintech GeForce
2 Seagate SATA 160 GB HD
I have Windows 98, ME, and an XP Home Upgrade Kit.
So, . . . Can I get an XP operating system on my computer with what I have without RAID or hardware support issues? I am just not sure what to do or where to go to find out how to do this. While I am technically handy, I have not ventured into OS handling or pre-driver installation. ie. I doubt I can load the RAID driver before I load windows 98 (before I upgrade). Should I just bite the bullet and buy XP Home full version? Can someone Help or direct me to a site that can?

Here is a truth that most people do not realize: Windows XP Upgrade is exactly the same as the full version. The only difference is that the Upgrade will ask for you to insert your 98/ME disk during the install process. You can still do a clean install on a clean hard drive the same way as you can with the full version.

^^ What he said

If you go ahead and start from the XP upgrade CD, get your SATA drivers handy, look for something about SATA drives ( I think it is F6, could be wrong), and there you go.
