norton.. idk just a big system.. seems lil flimsy to me.. only used it for a few days... didn't agree with my system to much idk y.. so i just deleted it..
friend uses it and it lags her a lil at times.. so idk guess it might be their computers.. never really used it long enough to say..

I'm running Symantec Corp. 9.0. It has never made my system lag or has it ever failed me. But I guess it's just user preference or a lot of people are relying on other stories from people about Norton. What do your businesses run for AV? I bet you 95% or more use Norton...Lets take a poll. We use Symantec Corp. 9.0. as so do I...

Norton IS 2005
For XP:
128 MB of RAM
REQUIRED FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS
70-100 MB available hard disk space (200 for complete installation, including Norton™ Parental Control)

Norton Ghost
# 256 MB of RAM
# 85 MB of available hard disk space

Norton Firewall 2005
For XP:
128 MB of RAM
REQUIRED FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS
35 MB of available hard disk space

Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.0
# 32 MB RAM
# 36 MB disk space

Avast! 4 Professional Edition: 9.1 Mb
Avast! Home Edition : 8.9 Mb
NOD32 Antivirus System: 7.3 Mb

NOW do you see why I say that Norton is a resource HOG? Liz

And I used Norton til I had fits installing 2004. I wish that that my 2003 edition would work but the file is corrupted and I can no longer use it. And I refuse to use the 2004 since I can't get it to install correctly. Something about the Live Updates won't work right...I've tried working thru the knowledge base articles but they were less than helpful. And Tech Support was a JOKE! Liz

Not really...All I see is that it's just a bigger file...don't see how it could use more resources or is a resource hog, maybe I need a better explanation? To me this is like saying XP is a resource hog so I'm going to stay with 98....

Well, XP IS a bigger resource HOG, LOL when you put it that way, But there aren't many alternatives to XP that I am willing to explore, unlike Norton. Liz

I don't think people should justify by how big a program is to make them or anyone not want to use them. I think that is irrelevant.

Well, if you google Symantec or Symantec "Live Update" and get past the product pages, you will see just how many pages of HELP requests are out there for people needing it...it's not a pretty sight. Or go to a forum, like:
http://www.techist.com/index.php?s=
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/
http://forums.maddoktor2.com/index.php?act=idx
http://forums.techguy.org
And do a search in the search box on the term "Live Update" and see what you come up with.

And then with people complaining about how much it takes up of their system along with their o/s and other files, and not wanting to give up their o/s, which do YOU think they are going to switch? Liz

How do you Norton users feel about this?
