system restore dosn't effect your own files anyway (i think). Find some freeware recovery program and you should be fine. Just don't do to much file-moving or any thing. do not defrag either.

no, system restore is only for critical files and registry. anyhow, there is a Dos command called "undelete", but you'll need to download an older version of Dos on a boot disk 'cause its not included in modern os's and even then doubt it would work due to long file names and what not. just when you get the dos disk at the prompt type in:

A:\>undelete C: /list <enter>

it should show a list of the saveable files (of course, depends on the directory location as I dont think it will search the whole C: drive so point out to the correct folder). Still, DOUBT this will work... seriously, just get a 3rd party software...

Well, I got the file, kind of.

I dl'd a program onto my other HD and whatnot, and it found the file, but when I got it, it didn't work. Oh well, it wasn't rediculously important, this is just a bit (big) inconvenience. Thanks for the help, though.
