Wait, so what do I do with the alcohol? Do i clean the CD off with it or something like that? And what other program should I use besides Nero?

OK, well I just used Alcohol 120% on my DVD-r. I put the CD back in and it seemed to still do nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

LoL actually, i just realized that because I looked at the bottle and I was like "wtf..alcohol...k..where's the 120%?" So i looked it up online and im downloading the demo version from www.downloads.com. I'll tell you if this works or not.

OK, I just installed Alcohol 120%. I put in a DVD-r and I tried to create a DVD. It told me that it wasnt writeable. So then I put in a CD-r and it told me that the CD-r was writeable. So basically I can burn CD's, but not DVD's.

It wouldnt be impossible to have a writer that may have
been mislabeled.

Can you play a dvd movie on your burner?

You may also simply have a defective burner and it may need
to be replaced.

It seems I heard of others having problems using this drive
with +R disks. You may need to try +RW etc. What disks are
you using?

I'm using DYNEX DVD-R's. Yes, I can play a DVD Movie on my DVD-Burner

I think there is a firmware upgrade that is the fix
for your problem.

Check the NEC site for the fix and I would also
search google, there is alot of references to
your drive and the problems you mention.
