Noticeable difference?

Right now I have a Creative Labs Soundblaster 5.1 Channel 16-bit sound card. Would I notice a quality difference if I upgraded to a 24-bit card?

If you have good speakers and DVD audio

also if your doing editing and stuff like that.

The above is true, but ONLY if the music or videos your playing is was recorded in 24bit. In other words, if you have a 24bit sound card and the stuff your listening to was recorded in 16bit, then you aren't going to hear a difference. If it is 24bit, then you will notice a difference.


EDIT: Its like having a Hi Def TV but without Hi Def channels (you need those channels to really see the difference.

What about when I'm playing Call of Duty or another game?

If that game has 24bit audio, then yes you will notice a difference. Look on the back of the box to see if it has the 24bit logo on it. If it is only 16 bit audio in the game, then you will NOT notice a difference

If it does have 24bit audio, it will have a logo that looks SIMILAR (not exactly the same) to this:

ya, i'm pretty sure that call of duty has 24-bit...i can't remeber though.....it's totally amazing without anyway

Yeah it does have that logo, I've seen it before. I might upgrade to a 24-bit card, it's only 30 bucks on newegg.
