my comp has 2 80gb hd's, but right now i'm only using one of them for windows/programs/files. i'm trying to figure out how to format y 2nd drive so i can install linux on it and use it for backups of my primary hd, but i can't figure out where to format it. it needs to be in ntfs.

thanks

you need to partition it first. ntfs won't work for linux.

go to control panel, admin tools, disk management

then action and help for partioning

i know i need to partition it. i want it in ntfs because i'll still be using it for windows. i have partition magic 8 (btw, will that also format the drive for me?) that i'll use to partition some of the drive for linux.

and thanks for the help btw, i'm formatting/partitioning it right now :)
