Athlon 64 3200+ vs. 3500+

Well you can OC any AMD64 Winchester and get great results. You really dont want anything under a 3200 though.

thats not true. i seen some winchesters 3000+ oc better then the 3200, and the 3500. it just all about luck.
 
Ok first things first you are looking at two platforms as a guy before me said. what do you want 939 or 754? Newcastle, Clawhammer for 754 or winchester for 939 (yes i know there are some newcastle chips for 939)? these are the first questions that you need to ask. then once you know that here are what i see to be the best options. a 3400 for the 754 or a 3200 for 939. the 3200 is good beacause you will get a fast chip but most will have some room for overclocking. with the 3000 as they are the slowest 939 chip avaliable if you are unlucky you will get one that will hardly be able to do the stock 1.8ghz and will not overclock anywhere or if you are lucky you will get 2.5-2.7. on my 3200 939 i have got 2.6 but can't reach higher.
