ok i'll sound like a complete noob for saying this but i downloaded something trough kazaa, an exe file that now its on my hd is resisting all forms of deletion. i've tried deleting it in safe mode, normal mode. hell i've even opened it using wordpad and deleted its entire contents, now its a 0byte file still resisting deletion and giving the message the file is in use by a running process, even in safe mode. i've tried even decompiling it but can't find a decompiler that actually decompiles it. i was wondering if you guys have any advice, no virus or adware scanner detects it as a virus/adware/spyware but the file does create a .pif shortcut to itself when propertys are opened, this .pif file is created in the same folder : my shared folder

any of you guys have advice?

try Ctrl Alt Delete and remove the process, make sure you don't have any folders linked to it open (i.e downloaded music folders) and then delete it.

it didnt have any processes open so cant close the process in the taskmanager. and the program was Visio 2002 (keygen)

in the meanwhile i've also deleted all registry values that had the word visio and keygen in it and it seemed to delete fine after that. so seems to be fixed

You know, there's a part in the Bible that's kinda like this. In other words, You've got a thorn in your side, you put it there, and you're going to have to live with it.

So you stole software and got screwed by it...FO&D buddy.

well to be honest i'm 17 years old, i need the program for school, they handed round the cd in class wich everyone used to install at home. and after that somebody actually registered it so everybody had to use a keygen. hence the reason why i needed a keygen for it. i know stealing is wrong but i just dont have that much money to hand out on it and waste on something i'll use only twice.
as soon as i'm done with the program its going off my pc aswell.
seems to be fixed now since i deleted the registry keys. although thanks for offering your help people.
