I read PCMagazine, PCWorld and Maximum PC. You can pick up a lot of current hardware knowledge from these sources.
Even if you are not ready to build a computer, going through all the websites that show you how, can add to your knowledge of hardware.
I found doing a comparison of the different Abit Motherboards on their website (they lay them all out beside each other) was very educational about all hardware. Everything attaches there and you get an overall perspective.
Researching forums, as you are doing, Is a great way to learn trouble shooting.
Lostman's suggestion would certainly give the best and in depth hardware knowledge. My suggestions are more a hobby approach to learning hardware.
