Hi,
I need to build a new pc for a project I am working on. I want the pc to be a 1-2 GHZ machine. I went out on Newegg.com and came up with the following configuration. I've never gone with AMD before though, and don't know about the quality. Would the setup below work?
What MB would you go with? The only stipulation I have is it MUST have an AGP 4x slot in the board. Extra's like network card etc... are not needed.
What would you build? Thanks!

Are the AMD Sempron processors good? Or are they the equivalent of Intel's Celeron processors?

you guys blind? those mobos are incompatible with that processor it clearly says SOCKET A. But those motherboards are for Amd 64

IMO - If you are going to build a PC, you should invest most of your $$$ into the Processor. If you are going to buy a MOBO with intergated Sound, Video & Network - It's assumed that you probably don't want to spend more money on PCI & AGP cards. Don't skimp on the CPU. I would recommend an intel P4 2.8GHz at least with a frontside bus of 800 - make sure your MOBO will support the CPU & FSB.

newegg.com has P4 2.8GHz LGA 775 520 CPU's retail package for $157.00. I just installed one of these and they are blazing fast. Very overclockable too.

Put all you money into the Brain of the PC. You'll thak my later.

Thanks for the info, but I dont' really want a top of the line pc. I plan to use this computer for emulation only. I was going to use my Pentium 450 to run it all, but the stupid Arcade VGA video card I bought isn't compatible with the old motherboard. I need the video card to connect my computer to my arcade cabinet monitor. If it wasn't for that, I would just use the old 450 for this. BUT, lucky me, the video card is going to make me build a whole new pc just so I can use the card. UG. I need to make sure the MB I get doesn't have onboard Video, and just an AGP 4x slot for the video card. Onboard audio is fine. Onboard ethernet is good for internet connection via DSL. Processor 1-2 GHZ is great and RAM at 256-512 is good.

Hopefully this setup will work:
