Re:

Hello again,

Apparently, if you get one beep right at POST before the boot block (with an AMI BIOS), then you're experiencing a 'Memory Refresh Timer Error'.

If this is the case, re-seating the RAM DIMMs, or replacing them with respectable modules are supposed to fix this.

Alvin has the best suggestion thus far IMO.

One beep with the Award BIOS also means that it is a memory error and it needs to be resat so try each stick seperately in diff slots to see if it's a slot or one stick in particular giving you troubles

Thanks for the help guys, but it looks like I've got to send the setup back

There's either something wrong with the CPU or Mobo, or there's an incompatibility issue with my other hardware... :(

Thanks a lot Dabs lol

This same problem happened to me it is you RAM... A long beep on asus I htink means your RAM is bad.

Could well be the RAM, mate... But I'm not splashing out on new memory just to find out it still doesn't work lol.

I'll get my money back, and wait a few months before a huge new upgrade :)

:( im sorry it had to go.

This is why it is also good to have a second PC around. You can just take out some ram.

If you havnt sent it back yet, go steal someone's ram for a day. Than test it
