DVD Drive causes crash/reboot !!

If I insert a DVD, and it auto plays, no problem. But , if it does not auto-play (sometimes the case), and I choose WMedia Player or another video application to open the DVD.....I get immediate black-out , and reboot.??
I have latest driver for DVD drive. I recently installed some windows updates, dont know if any were video-related .
If any other program crashes or stalls, it's the usual freeze-up, allowing me to use Task Manager , send "error-report", etc.
Any ideas??

that sure sounds like a video driver problem. look at the error code(s) on the error report and look them up on microsoft.com or send the reports and see if you get anything.
