Basically I would like a new graphics card for my system. I decided the 6600GT is too expensive for me. I've been looking at the Geforce FX 5700LE:

http://scan.co.uk/search/search.asp?criteria=fx5700&Submit=Go

Probably get a 256MB one, but firstly is this a good card? I can't really go above this price, so is there anything better for around the same price?

I also have an ATI Radeon 9600 TX in my other computer right now, and so will the 5700 outperform this?

Thanks in advance.

If you intend on buying a card from the GeForce 5 era, scratch that idea and buy an ATi Radeon 9*** card. The 9600XT will indeed outperform the FX5700 no question.

Well what would be the nVidia equivalent of the ATI 9600XT then? And will this card play games such as Half-Life 2 well?

Thanks in advance.

try the fx5900xt, that is probably the nvidia equivalent of the 9600xt. I Suggest saving up some more and getting a 6600gt, you will NOT be dissapointed, so long as you get a good brand, and we can help you out with that. evga is the most reccomended.

Re:

...ummm..yeah...I have an FX5700LE and...it's a blast  ...

Well actually it's not bad, but it's a low entry level rookie wannabe gamer's card (none of those descriptions are me  :D ). Better off spending more...

Buying anything less than a 9800pro is madness these days...try running Far Cry or Rid**** on a 9600.
You're really just wasting money, the 9600/57/5900 are garbage now, they're just too slow.

You need to buy a card with some headroom, the 9800pro doesn't have much, but still more than the others, and the 6600GT is a bit faster than the 9800.
