Basicaly i told my mum i was getting a 6600GT and it costs £150 and she went mad. SO now im going to look at some cheaper cards. The games i play are cs : condtion zero, cs : source and c&c generals. So it needs to be able to play these at a reasonable fps but not at the highest settings really.

If i can get the 6600GT i will do but if not im gonna have to consider something else. I know someone who has a 9600 Pro 256mb, what would this be like? he said its the equivilant of an fx5200 ...

Thanks for any help.

If you know someone who's flying over from North America, you can definitely get it for cheaper :p (6600 gt like 110 UK pounds)..

Is the 9600 XT too expensive?. Comes with HL2 is Canada.....

Check this out from dabs here in the UK

MSI geforce 6600GT PCI-Express version £118.59 inc VAT
http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=3JQ5&searchphrase=6600gt

Gigabyte geforce 6600GT PCI-Express version £108.57 inc VAT http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=3K53&searchphrase=6600gt

Gigabyte geforce 6600GT AGP version £119.87 inc VAT
http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=3K55&searchphrase=6600gt

DabsValue geforce 6600GT AGP version £115.58 inc VAT
http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=3KQM&searchphrase=6600gt

So you can get a 6600GT a lot cheaper than 150 quid... i suggest you shop around a bit!

the bottom two i suggested where AGP cards... I made sure to put a real mix in there!

lemme know if you want me to source you any more prices!

I wasnt saying you didnt put agp cards in its just that they are quite a bit cheaper. What is gigabyte like for graphics cards though?
The gigabyte is out of stock, no picture, no reviews and no description lol, not very helpful :p

Im not too keen on the dabsvalue one lol.

I dont like the dabs site very much, i cant seem to get a list of all their cards, not very user friendly, unless im just a noob lol.

my gigabyte is great... but i bought the one without a fan... so am having some heat issues... but performance wise... no problems! Though their customer service is shocking! I made an enquiry about the heat of my card and it took 3 weeks for them to get back to me... and even they werent helpful... but as i said apart from the heat my oc'd card is working fine!

dabs dont make their own products.. dabsvalue ram for instance is made by matrix

from what i can tell (based on the picture shown and the manufacturers code given) the dabs value card is actually made by inno3d http://www.inno3d.com/products/geforce6/6600gt.html

i dont know what their cards are like! but £115 is pretty good for a 6600GT.

I believe gigabyte is rated pretty high for 6600gt's. I was gonna buy theres but it didnt say anywhere on the box whether it was SLI enabled (this is b4 i found out that all 6600GT's are SLI ready). By the time they got back to me i had already purchased the MSI card, which is great too.

i will think about that gigabyte 6600GT but im gonna see how much this guy is selling his 9600 pro for first. I can always upgrade to a 6600GT in the future. The reason my 6600GT was £150 is becuase it was a BFG one that is already overclocked.
