Automatic Update

I have an icon in my system tray that appears to be automatically downloading a Windows update. When I right click on it there is no opition to exit, only an option to pause/resume the download. Is there any other way I can close it? How do I turn off automatic windows update?

Never mind I just figured it out.

Good. That's the worst thing to have going. It's like giving MS permission to fix your system whith they're crappy patches whenever they want.

Here aye29, how did you figure that out, I have the same thing happening with my machine

In control panel there should be an icon called Automatic Updates. Open that and uncheck the box "Keep my computer up to date. blah blah".
