i will uninstall and reinstall it before i take it to the store to see if that works

They should have made the BSOD green. Green is a calming color. That's why they make the rooms where actors wait behind stage green (thus why it's called "the green room").

A nice Green-Screen-of-Death would put us in the right Zen to figure out the problem.
