my friend sent me a game. It is 491 MB and is a .EXE
when i run it, a DOS window pops up with "Program too big to fit in memory" error
im guessing the game is supposed to extract but its not a winzip self-extracting EXE judging by the icon.
I am running Win2k Pro, with 512 MB SDram
all replies are appreciated

or it's a d/l from kazaa or another p2p and it's not a game at all. There are a lot of bad people out there that love to transmit trojans/viruses and such through p2p networks. No new games use DOS for anything, so I'd be worried about a game that opens a dos window. I'd also run a virus scan.

alright thanks guys, i think its just a corrupt EXE, and yes i did get it off Kazaa but it checked out fine with my virus scanner, new virus definitions loaded

Have you checked how much virtual memory you have? I had a similar problem once and was advised to decrease/increase VM and it worked. (you may have to tinker a bit with it though)
