Help Plz !?!

I got a new comp from ebay today and .. when i plugged everything in all i got was a black screen i know .. the comp had no OS but i dont even get the system bios screen what does this mean and is there anything i can do about it ?
I really need this cpu for a project and i cant afford to send it back to have it repaired, please help if u can

It could be anything...for starters, does the mobo emit any beeps on startup?

no it doesnt beep at all

Does the system power up?
i.e does the power supply come on?
Does the power light on the case come on?
Does the hard drive spin up?

yes the system turns on fans spin hd cuts on i tried turning it on w/o hd and it said no hd preasent
so i plugged it back in and i still get nothing no bios no nothing

So it works without HD but not with HD?

i guess so, it just tells me that its not preasent
but if i put it back in its the same ol black screen

Screw around with some other cables, put them on the other IDE channel and make sure you did not connect the power molex backwards.

EDIT, its impossible to connect the molex backwards on regular HD's with regular power molex.

i've unplugged and plugged everything - switched IDE cables from 2 other comps switched the ram out hd's out i think i just got ripped off maybe the MB is fried i don't know

Check the jumper configuration on the hard drive - it should be set to master.
Make sure the IDE cable is inserted the right way round - the red stripe on cable must be nearest the power connector on the drive.

Also, try clearing the CMOS
