Ok so i am new to this whole thing and i have many questions. If i want to make a copy of a DVD, firstly whats a good ripping program? Also, is it possible to actually damage the original DVD in this process, thats my main concern.

THX.

*EDIT: Forgot to add, i would want to rip the movie, plus chapters, menu's and all that so that when i burn the copy its looks and acts exactly like the original.

He just wants backups. To back them up, use DVD Shrink with Nero. Some dvds have Son'y new protection so use DVD Decrypter to rip them. An no it will not damage the original dvd

Easy brian.

Thanks warez monster. DVD shrink rips the DVD as is, chapters menus...etc?

Yes DVD Shrink will rip everything as is but it will have to compress everything to fit on a 4.7g disk,So you will be looking at some loss in the picture quallity.

If I was to give you 2 of the same dvds, the original, and the copied, you couldnt tell the difference, so, myself, I would have to disagree with poor picture quality.
