XP upgrade

I only have 384 ram on board at the mo but would like to push it to 1gig. If I install an upgrade to my system os to windows XP upgrade on top of my current OS,will it handle the new ram better because I have been told that Me does not handle ram over 512mb - is this true?

I think Windows 98 doesn't handle over 512? XP Does, i think. Don't quote me on that, I know Linux handles whatever ram you want

Just get away from WinMe. Who cares what the reason. But if you go with XP, you will need more memory. 512 min to run smooth.

winxp can handle up to 8gb of ram, but its your mobo that is limited, and yes win9X can only handle up to 512 mb

192 megs here and it runs smooth unless you have the taskbar full.
