DDR is dual data rate, the standard ram today. DDR2 is a faster kind of ram, only used on high end intel systems/

And the higher the number, the faster the ram.
 
pc 2700 is a good performer. I just purchased an ACER laptop and an extra 256mb of pc2700. I also had pc2700 with my last motherboard.

since you already have ddr ram, you probably can't use ddr2.

I think ddr2 is different enough so that if you have a ddr system, you can't use ddr2.
I could be dead wrong, so do some research, or let another techie who knows more about ddr2 correct me. I just don't have the time to look it up right now.
