sound turned off

Hi
my sound was disabled, i was wondering if some one had hacked into my machine and had turned off/dusabled my sound?
i am using a peer to peer software?

I doubt it, if you got hacked the sound would be the last thing they are worried about. Some programs will disable sound cards and such to install drivers. Probably nothing to worry about if it is working again.

perhaps it was a benign hacker, who left his caling card

you know like the

"ghost who disables sound"

If all else fails, uninstall your sound (card or codex) and let Windows detect it and put the drivers back in place.

I've had this happen when I uninstalled "shared folders" before.
