Not wanting to start another thread:

Quick temp question, first of all the setup is below. Second, the temp inside my case is about 26 C maybe 27 C is highest ive seen it, and i have some good cooling going on. The 3rd eye tells me the room is at 22C, and that my cpu is usually around 46 C. But last night I was playing some BF 1942 desert combat and it hit 61 C at one point. Is this a problem? I am using the stock HSF with AS5...

BTW I set the CPU fan to never go below 2200 rpm, and at the 61 C mark it maxed out at 3020rpm.

Well considering you got the most powerful CPU in the AMD market right now I'd expect it to run a little warmer. 61C isn't a problem per se, but personally it'd bug me to the point of looking into better cooling as it will simply extend the life of your CPU so it's kind of up to you at that point.

Like I said, by all means there's nothing 'wrong' with it, buuut for my own analness lol I guess you could say I'd try and get it to the point of no higher than 55C on full load

idle your CPU us doing ok. I t seems that as the cpu gets hotter, the case gets hotter, therefor the cpu cannot cool as much. so your temps skyrocket. I suggest adding a case fan or 2 and an upgrade in stock heasink will most likely result in better temps and should fix the problem. But more case fans definitely.

Well i think it case if fine, I am runnign a 400rpm fan on the side of the case blowing right on top of the HSF, and i can tell when i turn it down because the cpu temps take an incline.

Nubius thats excatly the problem, the fact that When I look at the display and it says 61 C, I don't want to take my eyes off of it for the reason im afraid its gonna maybe hit 65, then 68..or who knows. But when I reduce the seting on the 3rd eye to quite, the cpu runs at 2480 mhz and the highest it hits is 57 C, but then again i am underclocking.

I would be scared out of my mind to use the H20 cooling. So I guess my question comes to ask...what is the best air-cooling setup for my chip??

lol yeah I'm still a little scared about getting this H20 kit too as it'll be the first time I've ever set one of these things up...buuut you can't learn without experience right?

Thermalright IMO produces some of the best aftermarket heatsinks.

coupled with a Vantec Tornado, 92mm would of course offer the best flow, but mind you those tornados are loud as hell, you will notice that out of everything else in your case when turned to full blast, so with those especially I HIGHLY recommend you have a fan controller on it.

I listed those from what I believe to be the best to the least best.

HAHA, yeah I laughed at that at first, then I realized i realy wouldn't want to 'experiment' with the current computer I just built, so thats officaly ruled out.

What do you think about this though, plsu some nice 80/90mm fans on BOTH sides...

Then you would have a very cool system indeed. It's just a matter of it all would fit inside your case. Thats why I put the angled duct in there because without it, it may hit the psu.

I don't think it would fit, and also the noise they talk about with it is too much, but thank you for the input.

It's actually less quiet than my Tornado fan that I have run at full blast most of the time. It's more like a white noise maker, the things than sort of make you sleepy, except it doesn't. You get used to the sound.

The bigger the fan the quiter it is, won't make a whiney noise like the smaller ones.
