Hello, I going to be building a budget gaming system and I wanted some opinions. I already have a video card, ATI Radeon 9600XT. I know this won't be a top-of-the-line system, but it's better than the Dell Dimension 2400 I'm currently using! I don't have a very high budget to work with. Will all of these be compatible with each other? thanks

My budget is $800. I have the video card and DVD burner already. Everything else I need to buy, including monitor.

As far as how fast I want DOS to run it, I have no idea. My friend will be building it for me, I'm just trying to pick out parts.

here are better parts:
MOBO:ASUS A8V Deluxe, socket 939 =$134.00
CPU:AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ =$152.00
MEMORY:Corsair XMS Extreme Memory 512MB = $99.00
HD:Seagate 80 GB Barracuda 7200RPM =$71.29
CASE:ANTEC Black Solution =$80.00
all of this for $560.00(including shipping)
except monitor

i wouldnt advise buyin a system from Ebay but hey... whatever floats ur boat

what is it with this guy and DOS?

I would go with something similar to what phosho510 posted, except not go with the Corsair XMS. lower latency RAM makes very little difference at all in today's RAM, and there is about a 4% increase in performance between PC3200 at 2-2-2-5 and PC3200 at 3-3-3-8

I would get 2 sticks of these which overclock pretty well, are cheap, and still give good performance without overclocking
