I've resently wanted to buy a Ultra Gaming machine with 4000 bucks, but my dad was .... yeah. So i bought a 2000 computer, but still have some leftovers, and i want to buy a cheap BUT FAST system for not intense gaming, but JUST enough for... Fun. I don't know what to get either a intel(no HT p4s) or amd(not the amd 64). And i also have other parts like ram w/e. I don't know what to choose plz help. Also the budget is around 500 dollars us.

Someone started a thread very similar to yours a couple days ago. A couple of people replied back with good setups that were under $500. I think the vid card they picked were 9600XT. Sounded pretty reasonable to me! :).. Should check it out.

Under 500$ or even 500$... You wont be able to do any gaming, since a real gaming video card is around 400$. So a moderate video card would be around 250$.
With such a low amount of money, you simply cant have a fast computer. I agree with MegaDeth, you need more money yo.

Alright man, this is about the best I can do for around $500:

CPU- AMD Athlon XP 2700+...$101.99
RAM- 512 MB Kingston PC 3200...$69.99
Motherboard- Biostar M7NCD Pro...$52
Hard Drive- 80 GB Western Digital...$58.33
Video Card- ATi Radeon 9600XT...$159.99
Optical Drive- Sony CD Burner 52x32x52...$23.50
Case- Antec Solution Series w/ 350watt power supply...$62

That comes to a total of $527.80. I realize that is a bit over the $500 budget, but it would be able to run games at decent, still very enjoyable settings. Let me know what you think.
