i dont believe so, where would i find that out? And if its not gold copy then what would it be called (name on the vanilla version)?

whats that? If its worth it i will. But i want XP pro back on my system, slipstreaming has nothing to do with OS's does it?

What slipstreaming does is combine xp pro with SP2 into a new cd. You still have your gold copy of xp pro so if something goes wrong, you can always go back to it. Liz

Here are the links:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp
http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html

Start with the first link and go to step 4.

Then move over to the second link and start here:
Next, start Nero Burning ROM, and choose CD-ROM (Boot) in the New Compilation window. On the Boot tab, select Image file under Source of boot image data, and browse to the location of the Microsoft Corporation.img file. Also enable Expert Settings, choosing No Emulation, and changing the Number of loaded sectors to 4 (otherwise it won't boot!)

The reason I didn't finish with the first link is that *I* don't have Roxio Version 5 or 6.

I've made 3 or 4 copies of Xp Pro and Home using this method. It works. Liz

So ur thinking that it has something to do with XP pro? Let me say this then. I am using the exact same version of XP pro on my old pc, i installed it then did all the updates (including SP2) just like i did on this machine. Then i treid installing alcohol. On my old pc it worked fine. On this pc it crashes. I dont think it has anythign to do with the installation of XP and SP2. I could however, uninstall SP2 and see if that works.

BTW, i just installed XP pro on my old machine 6 weeks or so ago. So its fresh.

I will have a look at the links and slipstream.
