I disassembled by computer preparing it for modding, I noticed that the IDE for my HD has a lot mire wires and thinner than the IDE for my CD-ROM. Why is that?i think i might have read somewhere about having 40/80 something.....

Im planning on buying rounded cables.are there two types of it?For HD and CD-ROMs?

thanks!

i believe i read the 80 was made to make data transfer better in faster HDs.am i wrong?

thanks!

yes,...actually,..rounded ide cables at some degree slows down data transfer..butits hardly noticeable

actually i was thinking first of doing those "rounding IDEs" thing that they do on modding sites.

what is your view on this?one said that there is a concern of data loss due to interference.

there is ATA66, ATA100 and ATA133 (different transfer rates) but I think it is only the ATA133 that has 80 pin connections. if you have an ATA133 rounded cable thenyou should get better performance, rounded cables means better cooling and because of the faster transfer rates on ATA133
