About 6 days ago i bought a new DVD-ROM drive the Pioneer 120S and about 3 days ago i noticed that something isnt right with it. I noticed that when i tried to copy a file of 500MB to my HD, it took 15 minutes according to the dialog box i dont know if that accurate but it took very long for sure.
I did some testing and found out that if i leave the drive unused for a while 10 - 20 minutes and then try to use it it wont spin up!! IT WONT SPIN UP no matter what! even if i try to run nero speed or other benchmarking software. The drive reads the cd or dvd allright but at very low speed say 1x instead of 30x.
Now if I try the same thing soon after inserting a disc the drive performs ok.
I know that there is a silent mode for this drive which i have it disabeled.
The system as a whole is just a few days long and it performs all right.
