LCD Monitors

I am in the market for a new Monitor. Can anyone tell me whether it is better to go for a faster response time or a better contrast ratio?
I mean if I had to choose a monitor with a 12ms response time but a 500:1 contrast ratio or a 25ms response time with a 700:1 contrast ratio--which is the one to choose???

for gaming or watching fast paced movies, definetely the 12ms

if not, then go with the 25ms

I'm also buying a new monitor. I think I'm going to buy LG 19.0" TFT, Flatron L193ST. Does anyone know, how its with gaming, common use and of course tv? specs: Image Brightness 400 cd/m2,
Image Contrast Ratio 500:1, response time 12ms, Dot Pitch / Pixel Pitch 0.294 mm, Max Resolution 1280 x 1024 , Max Sync Rate (V x H) 75 Hz x 83 kHz .
