i have dell 4600 that runs a 250 watt psu. but ive heard that the psu really acts like a 350 watt psu. is there any truth to this. if someone can let me know, the help would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt if a 250 watt will put out what a 350 watt is.

Yeah, that sounds like rumor-mill bull crap to me. Even if it did get metered at 350, there's like no chance that it would be stable, reliable at 350.

Yeah, that sounds like my Thermaltake which is a 560w, but on the back it says Pead Load 600w, but that doesn't mean you should use it as if it were a 600w as you'd just overload it.

Are you considering an upgrade? 250w is pretty much the minimum a system could run on happily! For the price, a boost to 400w might be worth while if your suffering for random reboots or have demanding hardware...

Depends on your spec I suppose I just like spending money
