I'm always a little weary about posts like this. If your going to just install Windows anyway, what do you need the password for? Just format to a Fat system and install your OS.

Do a search in Yahoo! for "retreive lost password in Linux". I'm sure there are many pay products that will do the job.

the problem is if you can't pass the password to boot then you can't load a new operating system to reformatt..once it asked for pass word thats as far as it would go loading..

What bootloader are you using in Linux & is it a dual boot system or just dedicated to Linux?

just don't use linux if that happens, i switched from 98 to XP and runs sooooo much better

i might sound stupid here..but i thought xp was designed not to crash..i haven't heard of it crashing yet ..but i guess anything can happen

i've only "ACTUALLY" crashed xp a handfull of times.

But the security documentation says enough for me to stay away from using windows that often

Never have actually "crashed" Linux though...i've only had to restart the X Server every now and then
