Ok here it goes, I have a few movie files on my computer that have been there for a while and I have been trying to delete them now for a couple of months, but every time I go to delete them the msg window "this file cannot be deleted, it is being used by another applacation" comes up. They also cause exeplore to use up about 130megs of ram which sucks. I know the files aren't complete and so are corrupt thats why I want to get rid of them. I am running wimxp with all updates with 512megs of ram. Anything I could do?

Boot into safe mode and delete them, thats the easiest way.

get a program called enditall, just dl it its free, and it should be able to close all unecessary running programs, then you should be able to delete them, or try renaming them and moving them to a different location, if that dont work try adn repair your OS install using your OS install CD or try using the recover thing (roll back to b4 you DL the movies) or as a last ditch effort, reinstall your OS

Not to be rude or imply anything but the "kind" of movies they are may indicate where the problem comes from... Once a friend of mine's ol' man stopped downloading pron they stopped getting PTV's on their comp (Pronigraphically Transmitted Virus')

well they aren't porn so thats not the problem

if you had the recovery console... you could do it that way too.. if you know the EXACT Path of these movies...

Well this way doesn't work. But thanks for the advise.

with MSCONFIG sometimes it just doesn't work, i try and stop a program coming up on startup, reboot and when i log in i find it still comes up
--- this has happened with WinDVD and a whole lot of programs that use the system tray
