I'm planning to buy a new Dell server.

The memory its using is a DDR2 400mhz or 530mhz single ranked ram.

I like to know the difference between 400 mhz and 530 mhz speed (performance) wise.

Is it worth $10 to upgrade from 400mhz to 530mhz?

Also what type of after market memory will be compatible with the original Dell ram?

Thanks.

Of course its worth it!
Its a server, needs to be as good/better than ur main computer!
+ its only 10bux.. even if it only adds a fraction of speed/performance, 10bux is nothing

Thanks for the replies guys.

What are other brand of rams compatible with the Dell?

The dell ram doesnt say PC3200 or PC4200. Where do I buy some more rams for my dell server?

I don't want to buy Rams from Dell since they are overpriced.

i personally like Crucial myself.

they do offer 100% compatibility with ANY machine.

so that percentage is damn good, i might say.

never had a problem w/ installing Crucial RAM in anyone's comp i've upgraded for them, whether it was an older or newer machine...

Crucial's one of the only companies that actually make their own chips that go into their own sticks.

not many other companies can say they do that.

fyi, they are also known as MicronTech.

their website is very helpful in finding the compatibility of your machine.

Crucial it!

Yeah, I just went to Cruicial.com and found out my server is compatible with DDR2 PC2 4200. That's the one I will get.
I won't get it from Cruicial due to the price. It's even more expensive than Dell.

^^ hey, glad it worked for you.

i go to that site to find compatiblity, then i go find it at www.newegg.com

they are amazing. i've pretty much ordered almost every part of my new comp from them, piece by piece and everything has worked perfectly.

they didn't get voted #1 on-line shopping store for nothing.

good luck!
