I just bought a 120 GB Hardrive and I'm wondering if this will work. I have a computer with many viruses and the only hope for the computer is to install a new hardrive. The hardrive currently in the computer also has lots of bad sectors. I would like toburn my personal files to a DVD and then I will take out the old hardrive and put in the new one. Then after I have put in the new hardrive I will install Windows Xp Pro SP2. Will that work? I have a feeling this isn't the correct way of doing this.

Viruses can be easily eliminated by formatting the drive and reinstalling Windows, buying a new hard drive seems a bit exccesive...

You can take out your old hard drive, install the new one and install Windows no problem, although I wouldn't suggest moving any of your files to your new drive from your DVDs until you scan them all, as chances are some of them are infected.

its not the viruses that is forcing me to do this. it's the amount of bad sectors on the hard drive i have
