hey guys...once again, thanks for all your help to those responding and let me add that I am really getting into 'tech' info. I am going to start taking some courses to get up to speed and it's just all so interesting, can't wait.....can you say NEW 'expensive' hobby?....move over 'fishing' it's getting too hot outside nowadays!!!

?: found really good deal on HDD...maxtor 40gb, 7200rpm, 2MB cache, 100MB/s....$79 with $30 mail-in rebate = $49.00...it's only going into an upgrade I am working on.
-problem is my HDD interface is IDE...this product is EIDE...will they be interchangeable?

thanks...

Actually, they are one in the same (now). The "E" just stands for Enhanced.

Pre-1995, there was a difference in IDE and EIDE. I could give a history lesson, but for this question, the answer is yes. ;)
