Will I really see a difference?

I am planning to upgrade to an AMD 64 3500+. right now i have an Athlon xp 2500+ overclocked to 2.2ghz.

i was wondering if i would see a big difference in performance. i'm being serious, i want to know if i will really see a big difference in games and applications. i want to know from people that have had experiance in what im planning to do. i want to know this because i'm not sure if its worth it to upgrade now.

A 3500+ 939 Will give you a nice preformance increase, it does more per clock, you can use dual channel ram and it will overclock to 2.5Ghz+ Easy on Air

i know what you mean by "it does more per clock". but i want to know if that more per clock will be noticable, like really noticable.

Of course a 3500+ is going to out proform the XP. The next AMD64 after that is a 3700+ witch is mad good. Dont forget XP FSB is what 333mhz 400mhz tops. Since AMD64 chips has its FSB built in the processor it self, its alot faster. The 3500+ has HTT witch helps alot.

Also dont forge socket 939 is the best out there. But for my personal suggestion, dont get a 3500 Newcastle or Win. Get a socket 939 3400 Clawhammer. These will cost around the same price as the 3500+. It has 1mb cache, unlike the 3500 640kb.
