Hello I am trying to install XP Pro and get the following error:
SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file"D:\I386\asms\52\MSFT\WINDOWS\NET\RTCDLL\RTCDLL.MAN" on line 15

Installation Failed D:\I386\asms

these happens when the 2nd reboot after Preparing installation before Installing Windows.

I have read sites I have copied the I386 folder and also tried using a 4 different disk and 2 different hard drives but the same problem

Also the problem changes location but still points to SXS.DLL

Your help is appreciated.

The gdiplus.dll file is probably corrupted. Go to this site and download the file and replace it.
HERE

Try this to install when it locks up. When the install locks up, if it asks for the file, have it copied ahead of time on a floppy. Then put in the floppy hit browse and tell it to go look in the A drive. I had a similar problem with my AGP driver files once doing a repair install. Also some times the install looks like it has locked up during the registering components section. If you have unsigned drivers like for the mobo or something it will happen during a reinstall.
