Recording TV on PC

I was thinking about recording tv on my pc. I was thinking about getting one of these:

Also, my computer is a Athlon XP 2200+, 256mb ram, Radeon 9200se 128mb, Maxtor 120gb HDD 7200RPM 8mb. Is that good enough hardware to record tv with?

That hardware is fine, just make sure you record in another file format other than avi. You have to use some kind of compression or else it will fill up even the largest hard drives fast.

Yeah I record TV just fine on my computer. You can get an ATI TV tuner card for around $45 or so.

I record tv all the time with my aiw 9600 and i just watch the show and delete or compress and save to dvd then i can watch it in my dvd player. Your setup seems like plenty to record with.

Also, my video card is not an AIW... What do you suggest as a tuner?

With that tuner and a good video card, what are the steps that I need to take to record cable onto my PC?

My ATI TV tuner came with recording software. I believe most if not all tuners out there include the software for recording.
