Dial-up modem slowed dowm dramatically

My Dell Demension 4600 w/ an Intergrated 56K PCI Data Fax Modem has slowed down dramatically in recent weeks. Connecting at 16 to 19 kbps. It used to connect at 35 to 50 kbps. I am a MSN customer using a dial-up. I live in the county and dial-up is my only option. What could be causing my slow connection speed? Thanks.

Bad lines, weather, MSN network problems. Try to get a frined to let you dial in with his/her dial up account to narrow the possible problems. You could aslo look up numbers and try to dial into MSN with a different phone number. I once had this issue with my dial-up, except I was connecting at 2kbps. Switching the number I dialed into fixed it.
