What's your pref? AMD or Intel?

and apparently an Intel P4 is 100% compatible with Microsoft and an AMD is only 90% compatible

well there have been sooo many debates on Intel versus AMD and it usually ends with performance versus cost

actually it isnt compatability, it support, MS will not support AMD chips if you call them and tell them you have a problem with your OS

the new AMD and Intel chips are pretty different from the old ones, i have been looking steadily every day at both companies (because i honestly just want the cheapest one that will give me the best performance, i was looking at AMD because of the IPC speed is supposed t make up for the difference in intel's clock speed) but the athlon is almost always more exensive (P4 2.4 GHz @ 800MHz FSB vs. athlon XP 3000+ cuz i want the 400MHz FSB if im going with AMD) these 2 procs are close in speed comparison and the AMD is almost always about $30 more
