Still getting ready to put together my new comp. When I get ready to partition the hard drive, how do I know how much space to allocate to the OS? Is partitioning really necessary?

Thanks for any help.

1) What OS are you planning to use?

2) what size is the drive?

3) And Yes, partitioning is necessary even if you want the entire drive in a single partition (ie C drive), it still has to be created if the hard drive is brand new.

4) Which component did the extra screws come with?

Use the screws when u need screws somewhere.

5-10GB is enough for XP. Dependins on how many programs u install on XP's partition. I recommend using at least 2 partitions. 1 for XP and programs, and 1 for MP3, porn, docs etc.

So you can format +re-install XP without loosing ur important files.

I picked up a WD 80 GB 8 MB for now,

I am going to run Win XP Home

The screws thing is a joke, its a sig, LOL.

Awesome, thanks alot, I wont be running to much, just Xp and a few games, I figure later on when I get some more cash, Ill do the raid thing.
