You have to realize that the x800 is a top of the line ATI card, so of course it's going to be grossly overpriced, that's just how technology works.

Once the x850XT and later cards are released, that card will no longer be "leading edge" and the price will drop quite a lot.

It's not very wide spread yet however. Give it a month, and the x800 price will drop like a rock, I gurantee you that.

Well, that is my point...see most people don't spend $299 on a gfx card. I'm ready to spend up to $210 with shipping and the 6600GT or X700 Pro fit in perfectly, but if I look at benches the 6600GT whoops so bad it isn't even funny.

nVidia has the obvious advantage when both price and performance are taken into consideration when comparing the 6000 series to the x series.

I'm not even going to get into this. For my new rig, I will get a GeForce 6600GT. To replace my X600 Pro, I will get a 6600 Non-GT.
