Slow start up and poor sound

Hi
My PC is taking more than 3 minutes to start up.It wasn't like this.It used to start within 30 secs.And the computer became too slow also.
If I play any audio/video files in any players Itz working.But when I open any application(messenger,Internet browser...etc) while the player is running, the sound is suddenly fading or stopping till the application is opened properly.I donno whatz happening!!!!!! Could u guyz plz help me ?
N.B: I've tried Adaware nd Spybot S&D already.

When did this start?
Did you install SP2 recently?

it mite be that u r running style xp. try removing that

u could try bootvis for ur start up times and try to make them shorter, i didnt see anything bad running on ur pc in ur logs tho, gotta remember u only have a 750mhz processor running and on xp that isnt gonna b that quick no matter what u do, i doubt its style xp as well cuz im running it and it only takes up 544k of memory wiht no cpu usage on mine. also i would get rid of dap

Thanks a lot for uer reply..I'll try tht software u mentioned.But now i got a new problem.All my icons are higlighted on the desktop.I tried too many things still it is not going.What can I do for that? cud u plz help?
