On my Windows XP computer, I have noticed recently that when I click on some links on Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2, and when right clicking and choosing open in a new window, a new window appears and doesnÂ’t do anything.

If I right click and choose copy shortcut, and then paste this shortcut into the new windowÂ’s address bar and click go, however, it then goes to the address. ItÂ’s just really annoying having to do this as opposed to just clicking on a link and the page loading itself. Can anyone help?

I am running Windows firewall, Mcafee Viruscan 8.0, Google toolbar (with Pop-Up Stopper), Pop-Up Stopper Free Edition, and Windows SP2 Pop-Up Stopper. These have been installed and running perfectly for ages though, so I don't think they are the problem.

ok, i have mcafee firewall. when this is turned on or even when it is set to filter, i get the same problem. if i turn the firewall off completely, it works.
