I've found that the PSU has 17 amps on the 12v+ rails. Would 1 amp make that much of a difference ?

In all reality you want the most out of your rails that you can get. It is some ppls reason for not being able to oc cause it will fail on them.

Ok. i'll look into PSUs a bit more.

my cheap suggestion is an antec 350 watt psu if money is a problem. I have found that my fathers antec true power 380watt is excelent for oc'ing Athlon XP cpus.
