I am trying to install XP on my friends SATA HDD. It says that the Hard Drive is not found...Should I try to install the drivers ? What could I do to fix this problem ? And all the cords are connected properly.

I had the same exact problem with my computer!

Unfourtantly XP can not reconize SATA hard drives you can try to install drivers but I still dont know if it will work

You must put 2000 on it then upgrade to xp

all SATA drives need drivers for XP or any OS to my knowledge (except possibly some Linux OS's)

when you load the XP setup, it will say "press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver"
when it does, press F6

you should have gotten a driver disk with your SATA drive - if you don't you can download one at www.driverguide.com and put them on a disk (extract them if they're in a .zip file) then put it in, and just point it to A: then it should load the drivers, and it should detect the drive now

does this mean i can't have SATA drives as my main drive, i mean installing windows xp onto them.

unlessi first install windows 2000 and then install windows xp ver 2000
