I just recieved an amd thunderbird that was previously unlocked via the pencil and tape method. Its normal clock speed is 1Ghz. I even double checked to make sure by checking the numbers on the chip and looking it up. However, I put it into my MSI K7M Pro motherboard and it clocks in at a sad 750 mhz. Anyone know why it does this? I have yet to make any adjustments or anything like that yet, but my last chip clocked at the speed it was supposed to, which was 950mhz.

It looks like the graphite connection is still clean under the tape so far. I did not clear my cmos before I installed, would that be wise? I just checked with AIDA32 and it says my current FSB setting is at 100Mhz with an effective clock at 200Mhz. Also, to correct a mistake on another thread, the board I am using is a K7TM Pro Turbo Socket A Motherboard, Not a K7M as it showed up in Aida for some reason.
