Hi, I need some help in installing a Seagate 400 GB hard drive in my Dell Dimension 4500. On dell's website it said that if I update my BIOS to A04 it would only see 200 GB. I was wounding if i put in a Belkin F5U098 Ultra ATA/133 PCI Card or any ATA PCI Adapter card. would I be able to see all of the 400 GB drive. any help would be appreciated

Thanks:

:D

I don't think I've heard of a 400GB Hard Drive

I've seen 200GB, 250GB, and I've seen 1TB and 1.6TB (external) but not 400GB

usually it depends on the OS to support different size hard drives

if you have Windows XP, make sure it has at least SP1 so it sees hard drives over 137GB

in "my computer" there should be an option to make 2 segments therefore it will see it as 2 200GB hard drives or how many segments you split into

and it isnt called segments it is called partitions and you need a different os that has partition software in it or you can get partition software of the internet. IT will make it into a bunch of different pieces. I am downloading linux off of linuxiso.com and that has partition software
