This is really strange, I did this the other day and my comp was on Windows XP Pro w/SP2. I had to reformat and put XP Home Edition on so Bill Gates wouldn't sick his henchmen on me (Had it on my computer before christmas, got new hardware, reformatted and reinstalled but then it wouldn't let me activate). So in essence I got shafted into paying $100 for a new copy...

i hate that so much that u cant even put new hardware in without it getting mad, i look it at the same way as downloading music, its legal to dload if u already bought the media to begin with so all ur doin is getting a back up copy, so it should b the same with an os, i bought an crappy oem computer awhile back and payed for my windoze license, y should i pay for windows again when my mobo fried or even have to call them and sort it all out, its readily available to dload and i wouldnt pay them another 100 dollars
